Make sure you place as many career and hobby items as possible in and around your home prior to starting your party. (Even duplicate yoga mats, writing desks, etc.)
When searching for parties to attend most players will look at the “Ideal Attendees” to see if all - or most - of their Sims have either career or hobby icons shown. ** See attached image for example of the icons in the party screen **
The more matches, the more Party XP and Career/Hobby XP the Sim can earn while attending. Blue matches are good, gold ones (not shown in pic) are even better.
The career and hobby actions a Sim performs at a party are worth more party XP, meaning the attendee can earn their three party stars without eating cake - which earns fashion gems. Since these actions earn higher party XP having them out also increases the likelihood of reaching Party Level 10, which means even better rewards. Sims like parties where they can get rewards, they’re fickle that way.
Also, stop throwing Birthday Parties. There’s nothing wrong with them, I’ve just found they’re more likely to be skipped and the other themes - like Foodie and Studio - have party items that are a little more fun to complete. Just be sure to look at the items before starting the party and planning where they should go! Its tricky to get them placed before guests start arriving if you have to start rearranging and storing items to get them out.
Hope this helps! Happy Partying!

You are not doing anything wrong, barely anyone ever comes to my party's. I think you should try and expand all of your sims friends. Your friends might come to your party
