Can't unlock the Club and access the DJ career

I can't unlock the club. I'm level 30, when I turned level 23 there was the option to unlock the club but I waited as I had no need for it then. I'm now ready to unlock it but the padlock symbol is gone. I clicked all around the building and nothing. So frustrating. I'm thinking it's an issue they need to fix but I can't seem to find anything online where someone has the same problem.

I'm still having this issue (9/19/18). It doesn't matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall the game, the problem doesn't fix itself. I emailed the help desk so hopefully the get to work on it. Did you guys notice it all went crazy when the Waterfront update installed, or was that just me?

It’s driving me crazy not being to unlock the club. I also can’t really see my sims when they go to an event here. Seems to be a problem for a lot of people. I’ve reinstalled the app. I have no open event involving the club. I’m so frustrated. Just shows a red asterisk on the map. Help!!

I have closed and reopened the game and completed any events that were happening there. I still can't unlock the club. I'm lvl 34. Anyone have other solutions?

Figured it out. If one of your playable sims is in there doing an event, you have to complete it first and leave.
