And does favoriting them have them walk in your game

You don't lose your sim you can still interact if it says permanent like it did for me don't worry you won't lose ur sim

I think they do lose that sim. My sim just got a request to move in with another sim and the message I receive says this move will be permanent and that she'll leave behind an heirloom. I can't even tell who asked her to move in, so how do I decide?

As far as I know, they will not lose the Sim.
You can socialize and you can see your favourites in your game.
