To retire a Sim you have to be on level 16 an automatic screen will pull up press retire

To retire your sim manually, click the button where you can change appearance and on top, there's a hexagon button you can click so you can retire.
Unfortunately, you cant unretire your sim at the moment.

I literally just did the same thing on accident.. I'm so upset :( I'm just going to uninstall the game cause I don't think you can get your character back. </3

I’m sorry to say as far as I know...you can’t do that sadly. You have to create another person. It sucks but that’s how it is. Sorry :((
